Google Business Profiles Now Offering Custom Social Links

Big news for those with Google Business Profiles! Google has introduced a new function that allows users to add social links within their profile. What does this mean? It means that now you have any more control over how your business appears on Google and what users see when your listing appears in the search engine result pages (SERPs).

What is Google Business?

In case you are unsure, the first thing that might be important is to answer the all looming question of what the Google Business profile is? Think of it as your digital storefront on Google. It's like having a virtual signpost that tells the world, "Hey, we're here, and we've got awesome stuff to offer!"

Your Google Business listing is a great way for visitors to find quick information about your business...basically a sort of highlight reel. Information includes:

  • Directions to your business
  • Phone number (if applicable)
  • Hours
  • Reviews
  • Service Offerings

But here's the real beauty of Google Business Listings: they're not just static ads. They're dynamic hubs of interaction. Customers can ask questions, book appointments, and even order food—all with a few clicks. It's like having a 24/7 concierge service at your beck and call.

Back to Social Profiles

Now that you are all caught up, let's get back to the topic at hand. Social links within the Google Business Profile. Yes, you heard right. Before this function was very frustrating, but it relied upon Google finding your social links and linking them whenever they got around to it. But now they have given the power back to the business!

Here's what you need to do:

  1. Go to your Business Profile.
  2. Click Edit profile → Business information → Contact.
  3. To edit, click Social profiles → Down arrow
  4. In the drop down that opens, select the social media link you would like to add.
  5. In the web address field, add the link.
  6. Click Save.
